What the ...? That's not how I understood the X pattern to be. Can some more experienced members give some guidance here?

Yeah, that's not the traditional X-pattern at all and I don't think I'd recommend newbies trying it.

the traiditional X-pattern is this:

This is for honing but it's the same motion for stropping just with the edge trailing

My razor has been laying over the stone for about 2 hours without any move.....how long should I wait for the razor to start honing itself like in the video????
