FIRST SHAVE (Like ya haven't seen these posts before....lol)
Hey Yall......
Did my first shave last night with my new Dovo INOX. I kinda took baby steps as stated many times on the forum and in videos. I did the side burn area on my dominant hand side (right)....I thought this isn't so bad..... So I pushed my luck and went and did more...... I did everything but my chin. Under the nose was tricky, but got it done..... I did 2 passes everywhere I shaved. Only 2 little nicks. I'm happy with that. Next time I do go to shave I'll do less and form more of a bond with my INOX.Learn better techniques and holding the bade correct and comfortably. Lots more to learn..... I will prevail in time!

Thanked: 4830Nice. It's always good to get a clean start. If you are comfortable and have good control of your blade you are holding it correctly. Techniques develops over time, we all have individual faces and whisker growth, so we need to learn what works for us. Hot lather or cold lather, one pass to four passes, long prep or minimalist. When things are working keep going, if you have troubles change them one thing at a time to find your sweet spot.

Thanks for the words of encouragement. One thing that I wasn't comfortable with shaving was shaving the left side of my face. I have to learn to use my left hand. I'm a righty. I used my right hand to shave mostly the whole time. I'll practice more and more using my left.... I promise.

Sounds like a good start.
When I started, I would use my left hand for as much as I felt comfortable with and then finish with my right hand. Every shave I got a little bit farther with my left hand and after a few weeks I could do my whole face with my left hand. I also practiced by lathering with my left hand. It just takes time, so go slow and take it easy. Some people never go crazy. What truly horrible lives they must lead - Charles Bukowski

Thanked: 1I'm a newbie too. You sound like me. I had intended to just do my cheek but proceeded to do most of my face the first time. I'm 3 weeks into this and I am really enjoying it. I'm learning more and getting better each time. The shaves are great and it really is as "Zen" as they say it is. It's a great 30 minutes to zone in and detach from the day.
