Cool My thoughts as a beginner SR shaver

Just some thoughts I have on SR shaving after a month(+ or – a day or 2) of every morning shaves. Well 1st shave sucked big time, I did get my face free of whiskers but it was not smooth in the least and ohhh the burn, but I have become slightly more proficient, I still have a longggggg way to go but I get a passable shave every time now.

My skin get very irritated when I shave which is every morning, job requirement, and I get really bad bumps and ingrown hairs on my left check and down my entire neck. I have not got these in 2 weeks with SR.

I sometimes miss a small amount of hair at the jawline just below my ear, due to the extra care taken with the SR so I don’t shave off my face, I have not missed those spots.

Since I have started being able to put the razor to my face without being hold my breath nervous, I have found that I find my morning shave relaxing and quite refresh as I get ready for work and lets me start the day in good spirits, too bad that gets killed when I walk in the door…LOL

Small amount of advice I can offer

1stMake sure you get good gear and stay clear of bargain bin gear (my starting gear was not great, I will not list name as I do not want to slander/liable any brand) check out razors to avoid in SPR library.

2nd Watch a few videos on how to … Youtube has many.

    3rd Start slow

4th Do not expect a perfect shave first time out of the gate. Likely it will be worse than a disposable blade. I hope after a year or so I will get a close to perfect shave but that is a while away but I learn something every shave. If you start getting too frustrated, stop and finish up with your normal method, all you are going to do is make you face red and burn all day long.

5th Watch your angles, too steep you will likely cut yourself but defiantly get a bad irritation, too shallow you will not get hair off.

5th If you are a member ask questions on forums lots of people on here in all stages of learning. We learn a lot from one another and the senior members really know their stuff and are great sources of information. If you are lurking sign up and ask questions.

Good luck and may you have many smooth shaves.

    Well put.

It is very exciting when starting out. Going slow with shaving and purchases is difficult. It is much easier to get caught up in the gotta haves and desire to shave than to focus on the shave, lather building and stropping. Learning these three elements will help make the transition to better and better shave smoother.
