Success
It's been a while since I posted my initial shave attempts. Today with WTG and XTG managed a Socially Acceptable Shave with a Thiers-Issard Spartacus 6/8, ColC Lime glycerin and Neutrogena Shave Cream. No weepers or nicks and only used a bit of Alum. No sharppangs, so finally finished with a bit of Pinaud Clubman.
Next test with be with full ATG. Don't think I will try just yet.OldTraf

Congratulations
ATG is not required for a good shave. Nice to be BBS all over but comfort is important. Stick with what you know. Attempt difficult spots after you have mastered an all over comfortable nice close shave

With my beard ATG is necessary for a BBS and largely with XTG. In my younger days, hair started under my eyes and continued to my toes. At almost 69 hair is not as dense. Could have gotten a job as a Neanderthal if I had thought about. When the Navy allowed beards, my skipper said that it was not in the regs, if I was to keep the beard, I had to clear some hair from under the eyes.

Congrats on a good shave. I found that when I was able to do XTG it really pulled the shave in tighter!. Good idea to not get in to big of a hurry for ATG...it will come with time. I find for me I get as good of a shave (for the most part) with XTG without having to do ATG and risk the irritation.

Good one...XTG is a big step...took me awhile to figure out if I like nose to ear or ear to nose....settled on ear to nose for my XTG.
20 shaves, then 50 shaves, then 100 shaves were the benchmarks for me....with 100 being where it all really came together every time...but great aspect of this art, is you're always find you're refining and improving, with the occasional nick or cut to remind you not to get complacent!
Congrats!
