Razorfeld I think you are correct in your statement. A lot of people take up wet shaving looking to take and old idea and "make it better". I will admit to doing this when I first started out. I read everything I could find about different techniques and products. I looked at heat treat methods for steel, differences in grinds and scale material, essential oils in soaps... the list goes on and on. When you look at my shaving set up today I have an old Bengall that was the first straight I bought off of the classifieds, some homemade soap with a total of 5 ingredients, a well broken in $12 boar brush, and a SRD paddle strop. Besides the paddle strop there is nothing I use that would of been seen as unusual when straight razors were the norm.

Thanks for the complement , but what's 444?
It's a mentholated balm that I like and almost always apply after a shave.
It adds to the chill and it does not interfere with the fragrance of your AS.
I get mine here. Oh, and a little goes a long way.
