Shaving "double" concave areas
I've been having some trouble shaving closely in double concave (bowl-shaped) areas below my jawline. My skin seems to fit fairly tightly to my windpipe, so I haven't been able to stretch the the skin into flat or even single concave areas. So I've been sort of digging with the (round) point of the blade to shave those areas. But surely there's a better way! I guess I have two questions:
(1) Any tips on shaving such areas?
(2) If I had a spike point blade, how would I shave such areas?
Thanks, in advance, gents.

That sounds like the way I solve the problem. I use either the base end of the razor or the round point part of the razor. If I owned a spike I would use the base end.
You still shaving on the edge I sent you?????

I am. Yesterday afternoon, I was planning on putting the moves on my wife and wanted a very close shave. So and added a third diagonal ATG pass around my mustache and chin area. I managed to give myself a touch of razor burn. I also had some trouble with the blade grabbing and skipping when I approached the whiskers at more than a 90 degree angle (i.e. somewhat ATG). Are these indications that I need to freshen the edge? I've been reluctant to do so, for fear that I'll ruin the edge and have to return to a DE while I have the blade re-honed!
I guess I'd better buy a "backup" straight ASAP!

WOW!
Those are indications, yes, once you have some problem against the grain be careful. Thats a testament to your stropping ability right off the bat though. Good work! Its nice to know when your edges last a while.
I don't shave ATG myself, so I don't have the same issues!

Thanked: 346Great start! I dulled my first razor with my first stropping. Then I did the same thing to my second razor...
