Thanked: 1Feeling like I accomplished something!
Well I did it. I got my Norton set of hones for Christmas and today I applied the knowledge I learned from this very forum. I will admit that my first " Shave Ready" is not the same as the SRD sharpened razor I have, but I did it myself and shaved with it. I am pleased and figured you guys were the only ones that would understand my sense of achievement! Oh and as you guys warned me when I started with str8's, I am getting RAD. And boy is it catchy! Happy New year to all of you!

Thanked: 1Slurryer the highest grit I have is an 8000. I used the pyramid method that I watched from Lynn. I used the pyramid because I thought Lynn said its a good program that keeps you from over honing. After the 8000 I just did the strop routine. I plan on doing a balsa strop with chromium oxide after honing. I didn't do the balsa yet because I just ordered the chromium oxide from SRD yesterday. I made my balsa paddle after seeing some of projects here on the forum. I hope to get better and better. I'll have lots of practice because I just picked up 4 more razors that all need work. Thanks for the response!

Like so many others I can totally relate to that sense of achievement. I tried for a long time to get decent edges before I finally got a Norton set. That "I get it moment" that comes with the Norton is amazing!
Congrats on getting it

Thanked: 1Monkeypuzzlebeefeater I'm not sure if I "got it" or stumbled on it. But I'll keep my nose to the grind stone and keep at it.
