Thread: Largest blade shaved with

my wife thinks I'm crazy shaving with a 7/8 RA blade. She calls it a Weapon Sized blade that suitable for chopping vegetables! Lurking in the forums I have definately seen some huge blades that members have restored but I always wondered did they really shave with something like that? What's the biggest blade you have successfully shaved with and still have both ears and your nose!

Shaved with a 9/8 and many 8/8. Personally anything bigger than 6/8 is cumbersome especially if you are a full face shaver.

I love big blades TBH!

My largest at the moment is a 15/16" Wacker but I've used some 8/8" and 9/8" blades in the past.

Birnando kindly lent me one of his Buddel blades a few years ago which I think was an 8/8", stunning shaver!

I've not used a 10/8" yet, one for the future perhaps haha!

I have a 7/8 in my rotation, but prefer a 5/8 or 6/8 for my daily shaving. I have seen some of the blades you are taking about, and can't picture ever using them!

I have several 9/8's which I use regularly and pretty much every shave is 8/8...I'll mix things up with some smaller blades, usually framebacks...but on the whole love the big blades, just feel better in my hand and seem to have better control of them....as always, YMMV.

Biggest for me is around 9/8.

On the "extremes," I think bigger is easier to handle (honing, stropping, and shaving) than smaller. I hate doing 3/8 blades.
