How many passes are you doing when you shave? I shave daily with a single WTG (with the grain) pass and a few touch-ups (usually WTG, but sometimes XTG [across the grain] or ATG [against the grain], especially on the chin). I find this to cause far fewer skin issues, and, best of all, I get to shave more often.

Currently 2 passes. Wtg then xtg for my face and then wtg then atg on my neck. Didn't have any irritation from last nights shave. Took somebody's advice and shaved for comfort and it has helped a lot also been getting smooth close shaves doing so concentrating on skin stretching and blade angles

I'm glad you like the forum & the shaves you get now. They will only improve the more you do it plus you will try many soaps & maybe a few brushes. You can get sample soaps from many shave retailers. Maggards Razors is one of several who do this & you can try different soaps w/o sending a lot. Some manufacturers make a matching soap & aftershave. If you didn't upgrade your strop when you bought the kit, you can get a better one if it is in your budget. It goes on& on.
There is no smoother, closer shave better than a straight razor when honed & stropped correctly!
