Just want to say thank you
Big mahalo to the forum members here. I started straight razor shaving about 2 weeks ago and have about 7 shaves into this. I have really sensitive skin and just hated shaving. I can't remember what made me think about a sr but I did some research and decided to just dive right in! I bought a dovo best 5/8 from straightrazordesigns bought the ready to shave kit that included everything I needed to start. As soon as the box arrived I just went straight for it. I must admit I did have razor burn and a couple of nicks. But that didn't deter me it wasn't as bad as when I used disposable cartridges. After a cartridge shave my face would be itchy and sore for a few days. Even my wife noticed the difference after I shaved with the sr. She also noticed that I shaved 4 times the first week I got my sr. As I would shave maybe once every few weeks because of the irritation.
i must say that things have gotten way better! Especially after I read the wiki in the library for beginner shavers. I didn't even bother looking in there for info as I have been watching numerous how to vids. But when I seen an actual pic of the blade angles for shaving and also the different cutting motion techniques when shaving I finally got the "no pressure on the blade as you shave". I kept pulling hair and thought I neede more pressure boy I was wrong. It led to more razor burn. But I kept going even with the razor burn, because it was way less than I used to get using cartridges. Finally got a really close smooth shave with no razor burn or irritation! After reading through the wiki.
Then read about different diy post shave concoctions. I can't believe how much just a little olive oil can make a difference! Love this site.
my face seems so much smoother now. And I actually look forward to shaving! Been doing a lot of searching and reading the past few weeks and so much knowledge found here.
Sorry for rambling. Just wanted to say thank you to all the members here and for the site owners as well! I am a new lifetime sr shaver!
