I wouldn't even bother, that strop is just fine. You'll get more scratches on it soon enough.

I would say it's purely cosmetic. I would be surprised if it made a difference to the razor's edge. SRD is really great to work with though, i'm sure if you wanted to replace it they would work with you.
I emailed pics to straight razor designs and Don responded September 7th. He said it looked as if the strop would be fine, but he would send me a replacement piece of leather. I have not used my strop yet, and I have not received the replacement leather yet. I may go ahead and use the strop and forget about it since the general consensus is the strop is fine.
Agree w/eddy. Unless you're in the 0.0000001 percentile, you're gonna nick your first strop a lot worse than this. I'd contact SRD, with the picture you've posted here and ask for a replacement piece, that I would squirrel away while I perfected my technique on the original piece. And no, I don't see this blemish effecting the performance of the strop.
Hey All!!! Much to my surprise, a new piece of leather was waiting at my door this afternoon when I got home! I had given up hope that straight razor designs were not going to replace it but they did! That is fine customer service right there!!!!
