Hiya Straight Razor Place forum!
I recently found an old shaving set at a second hand store but have no idea what type of blades it would take. Hoping you can be of some assistance! I've attached some pictures for reference. From what I can tell, it'd only fit a single blade, maybe something along the lines of the 'Feather Artist Club' style?

I think that was/is called a Double Track - a cartridge razor from the 1970s. Possibly made by Merkur if it was part of a set.
Someone will probably be along shortly that knows everything about it.
It reminds me of what I started shaving with and it was two blade cartridge I believe I used Gillettes I think Wal Mart actually still sells the blades for that.

Well if you are wanting to get away from disposables then I would say go for it :D You will enjoy the shave much more than boring ol cartridges and get a more quality shave. I used a razor similar to what you have pictured for close to 10years and hated shaving so I just grew a beard and after going to a straight I enjoy the shave so much more. There is a ton of great info and great guys on here willing to help you in just about anyway they can. Ask questions and check out the library lots of good info there as well. Hey hey, nah... Like this (pic below). I did notice those Colonel Conk razors look pretty similar when I was searching for the Merkur double track after you mentioned it. Should be mentioned that I live in New Zealand though so don't know if they get sold here that regularly.Quote:

My favorite Merkur is the 137C 'Slant' razor. If you're adventurous enough to dive into the deep end right off the bat. A lot of guys recommend the 134 IIRC the # correctly. I think it is called the HD. Good solid DE razors. :gl:Quote:

They are considered to be milder on the aggressiveness scale and so more suitable for beginners. The slant that JimmyHAD recommends is more aggressive and would be a dive into deep water as he says. It all really depends on your technique, beard type and how sensitive your skin may be. After some practice using proper shaving soap or cream as opposed to supermarket gunk you will get the best shaves of your life and your skin will thank you for it too.
That's the Merkur Deluxe faux ivory double track razor set and the stand probably had a sticker on the bottom of it that said Merkur or Dovo Merkur. The brush is a pretty good (not to floppy) Merkur pure badger.Quote:
