Hi there, newbie here.
Just for background (you can skip this part if lazy), I started using a straight razor with a cheap POS from Gold Dollar that I was gifted from a friend. I really enjoyed it, as most do, and started using it exclusively. However my friend failed to care for it properly so it was already slightly rusty and had a chip in the blade that kept getting bigger. So I bought a Dovo 5/8 from Straight Razor Designs and have been loving it ever since. However I noticed that there is a big difference in bevel size between the two, being that the Dovo has a very very small bevel. The bevel also seems to be slightly uneven as it's a little bigger on near end and shorter on the far end.

My question is this, Is it good for a blade to have a very short bevel or a long one? Can I strop a bevel onto a blade or would I have to hone it? As far as I can tell the blade is still sharp enough to give a good shave however I want to make sure this blade last for as long as possible.
