I'm relatively new here, so forgive me for not knowing where to put this, but when did this become Straight Razor Palace? Or do I just not know how to read? Maybe it happened a while back and was discussed when I wasn't on here....

There was a change in the last 24 hours. However it's a technical thing. it's still the same site with all the same folks.
The name domain just got changed. We've upgraded to a palace. Nice digs !
New name, same great group of people. Glad to see the site still up regardless.
Can I change my user name to HRH Thug? ;)
I appreciate the efforts put forth to affect a seamless change to the "palace" make. A most suitable dwelling for us knaves.
There is just some technical, legal issues that caused the domain change. All is good as you can see it's running the same. All the admins are doing a great job of keeping it running as before, so nothing to worry about guys. Just save the new address. Tc
So all this time we have been meeting, showing off our stuff and exchanging info at a place and now we have been moved to a palace? Nice upgrade, we must be doing something right.........
Was there a reason to change it from SRPlace to SRPalace .
As a long time member, I'm still waiting for my harem. We are in a palace now, right?
I've only been a member since October, and I'm messed up about the name change. It's no big deal, and within no time I'll be just fine with it, but I can't imagine how some people feel about it that have been around from the beginning. Like I said, its just the name to a forum, so no big problem. Plus when SRP becomes the new youtube when straight razor shaving becomes the new it thing to do, everyone on here before the change can say, "I was on there when it was still Straight Razor Place." We'll all be official OG's.
I tend to visit sporadically and it took some time for me to find SRP this morning (I was just getting the GoDaddy page saying the domain had moved, but it didn't say where to find it). I have no idea what the technical or legal issues were but I'm glad everything is still here.
Post #9 on page 1 from TC.

I popped on this morning to do my normal checks and was like WTF. Good thing I have some members on my contact list to point me I the correct direction.
Thanks Mike.
Colin
I’m not sure what the technical or legal issues were either but I helped two guys get here in the past two days too.
I believe emails were sent to all members . If they went to your spam folder & were auto deleted then you'd be in the dark.
I found mine in the spam folder. But lucky enough, a member told me where to go. And it didnt end "LL".
I'm going to venture a guess about the technical and legal issues.
Note the following WHOIS information:
Domain: straightrazorplace.com
Registrar: GoDaddy.com, LLC
Registration Date: 2004-02-03
Expiration Date: 2019-09-01
Updated Date: 2015-07-06
Status:
clientDeleteProhibited
clientRenewProhibited
clientTransferProhibited
clientUpdateProhibited
These codes are explained here: https://www.icann.org/resources/page...-2014-06-16-en
clientDeleteProhibited:
"This status indicates that it is not possible to delete the domain name registration, which can prevent unauthorized deletions resulting from hijacking and/or fraud. If you do want to delete your domain, you must first contact your registrar and request that they remove this status code."
No big deal
clientRenewProhibited:
"This status code tells your domain's registry to reject requests to renew your domain. It is an uncommon status that is usually enacted during legal disputes or when your domain is subject to deletion."
clientTransferProhibited
"This status indicates that it is not possible to transfer the domain name registration, which will help prevent unauthorized transfers resulting from hijacking and/or fraud. If you do want to transfer your domain, you must first contact your registrar and request that they remove this status code."
No big deal.
clientUpdateProhibited
"This domain name status indicates that it is not possible to update the domain, which can help prevent unauthorized updates resulting from fraud. If you do want to update your domain, you must first contact your registrar and request that they remove this status code."
This is OK, but that may mean that it is not possible to change your IP (e.g. change hosting) easily.
The most likely option is that the original .com was registered to a person (not an entity) who's not willing or capable of paying the renewal fees for the moment. It can go from a private dispute, stuck in hospital with no power of attorney, or all the way to a complex inheritance. I rather hope its none of the latter options.
A less likely option is that the "person who did the registration" wanted to sell the domain to somebody else. I'm putting it between quotes because a hacker might have impersonated that person.
A final less likely option is that someone registered a trademark for 'straight razor place' and is trying to leverage that to take the .com from us. I'm not gonna check the trademark registries, but there's always an issue of jurisdiction where the trademark is registered.
P.S. I hope we won't need to fundraise to hire lawyers!
I'd have to say, interesting information.
But seriously guys, I don't believe digging into this is really all that important.
What is important, is the community staying together and enjoying the place we have to talk about all of our interests. The most important one, Straight Razors!!!
Shave on :tu
Well-said, Dieseld! We are not here to do anything other than participate and make this the premiere straight razor/shaving forum.
Any actions/decisions by the powers that be are simply none of our business. JMHO
Things are working smoothly! :tu
I feel so regal in this new palace...
A mans shave cave IS his palace after all!
Shave on men!
:chapeau
Never received the email about the move. I even checked my spam. But then again, I'm pretty new here. Luckily I found it.
Indeed, mine was filtered to spam
I must say the new forum is rather palatial, much better than that place...
Absolutely i agree wholeheartedly the main thing is that we have moved to a new site with minimal inconvenience and the bonus is it is that there is way more room here compared to the original site.
The thing about SRP is that the members feel like part of of a family and a valuable participant which has made SRP what it is today.
So i think that when there is an "adjustment" such as what we have just experienced here at SRP there is going to be some obvious curiosity as to the simple question "why". I don't care why but now i wonder why it is being kept in such secrecy.
I was lost until I happened to check my spam too! glad SRP still exists :D
How many of the Moderators are no longer around?
And who is the new site owner?
I don't believe any of the Mods have left.
And as far as we know the ownership is still the same.
Sorry can't answer what we don't know
So was Lynn the owner ? I actually don’t know that’s what I ask, I see lots of vids by him and they usually point or SRP but I don’t see much posting from him but I am sure he’s busy running a business
Yes, Lynn is one of three owners of SRP.
