Default No need for the safety today

When I woke up today I was determined to shave with my straight razor without any help with my gillette safety.
I knew I could do it: the straight is a new TI that had been recently honed by Lynn. I had been reading and rereading the threads on shaving. I stropped about ~ 60 times. And I followed all the instructions I've been reading these last two months, first going WTG.
This time I was determined to ATG over all the spots, including the corners of my mouth, as well as my neck and chin.
I must admit I was pretty scared, having read some threads on inch-long lacerations and minor hemorrhaging from some of the more senior shavers.
It took me a little longer than usual, but the end result was an evenly smooth shave. I realize that going ATG is what I need to tackle my tough spots. I did notice some bumps and burns on the neck and chin, similar to the ones on the other parts of my face when I started 2 months ago.
I don't know if I will have similar success on my next shave, but I am more confident about going ATG.

Congrats! Today, I too did my first without any Fusion backup. Probably not as good as yours and I did get my first nick but I did everything WG, most of it XG and about 50% AG. Pretty good overall but not as smooth as I'd been doing by finishing up with the Fusion. Still, it was passable and I left it be until tomorrow.

Tough mix there of enough confidence with caution!

Keep at it. We newbies will get there one day.
