I think that I just recruited two more to make the switch also. We'll see.

I was 13 when I started shaving. It was a cartridge razor, and by summer time I switched to electric, but didn't enjoy it much. 'Twas very irritating, so I went back to cartridges. I learned some different strokes/techniques of shaving. Then someone said they were interested in shaving with a cut throat. The sound of that got me interested. None of us new any advantages of using one, it just sounded cool. A year later, I was 18 almost turning 19, I started shaving with a straight.
First str8 shave was when I was (am) 30.
I was 38. This should be a poll question.

Happy Birthday +4 Days!
As for me, I'm 31, and just started a while ago. Shaved with brush and soap and a sensor excel or mach3 and usually hated it. Now I shave 5-6 times a week and love it. Some days I still feel pretty smooth and I try to convince myself 'that's enough growth to shave, surely!'
Though probably, without finding SRP, wouldn't be anywhere near where I am, this site is an amazing find for anyone even toying with the idea of using a straight.
18 when I bought a spanish made 5/8 but no strop or hone & I couldnt figure out why I got crap shaves.
It wasnt until I hit my 30s that I took up the challenge again.
When I found this site all the gaps in my knowledge were filled & I'm now exclusively a straight user to the piont of mild obssesion. Paul
I'm now 53.
Well I'm 30 and I'm waiting for the delivery of my first straight dovo. I ordered a pre-honed one from classicshaving, already read a lot of faq/tutorial/guide and I also order the dvd by Lynn Abrams. Hope to be able to shave decently with the straigh because I found terrible the feeling of the various electric and multi bladed safe razors tried so far...
