    Smile Straight shaving teaching literature

    Hey Guys,

    I just rediscovered the book which originally got me into straight razor shaving. The wife got it for me as a joke because she hated my stubble and boy does she regret buying the book now!

    Anyway I have some questions here. I place this post in Newbie Corner as the book may prove of some help to other new starts. But whilst that is the case I would also be very interested to find out if anyone else had read it and what their opinions of it was. Most of all i'd like to hear from experienced Sraight razor shavers- particularly Lynn- on their thoughts on the book. For a long time until I found this site it was my only guidance and became something of a shaving bible to me. One source of input can be risky if its the wrong input.

    The book is called;

    Sharp Practice; The real mans guide to shaving
    by Anders Larsen

    ISBN: 0-593-05730-9
    printed by Bantam Press

    I would encourage all straight razor shavers to have a look at it and offer any feedback and reviews of the book. I have found precious little printed literature of this type in the UK and feel any that is made should be accurate.

    I look foward to your responses,

    Sandy

    Search the forum for this book. I have it and enjoyed reading it. I think there was a thread in which some of our members had comments on it.

    I seem to remember a period of a few weeks when Anders Larsen was posting here.

    Sharp Practice was the book that also got me into straight razor shaving. A friend bought me a copy at Christmas last year and it's led to this!

    Yes it's a great book. I keep it, where else, in the bathroom so I can read snippets of it often (more often after a chili dog but we won't go there).

    Everyone should one a copy. Its very funny and well written, though I think that few here use his method of maintaining our straights or shaving with them.

    Interesting that this came up, I was reading his book the other day and wondering where he had gotten to. Its been a while since he was around here.
