I am a newbie, and have entered the last 2 raffles, but I already have a starter strop from Tony. I could always use another straight though.

Since there were no reactions to my joke, I just want to make it crystal clear that it was a joke and that I didn't buy any raffle tickets
I think for a lot of us newbies, one of the hard things is deciding where to put money - We all agree that this forum is awesome, but with limited resources and trying to get into a relatively expensive hobby (with the razors, strop, hones, brushs, soaps, etc.) we have to decide where to put the funds. I was SOOO tempted to buy tickets for Tony's raffle, but in the end had to decide whether to buy three tickets, or put that money towards a shave ready razor bought on this forum.
Just a theory why not many newbies purchased tickets...

Mark,
Very good points and we fully understand. Lynn sort of left it up to me on what to supply so I figured two less expensive strops would help 2 people get going instead of one nicer strop. I took a wild guess on there maybe being a few newbies in the raffles. Now that I look over the entries I see most were seasoned users, not newbies. Either way we have a few things to give away and somebody is getting something!
I sent Lynn a PM asking if he wanted to redefine where these go or what we give away. It's SRP money funding this and his call. We just wanted to give a small reward or start to someone but just were not sure how to do it.

EDIT: I didn't read all of the original post. I thought you were giving away an Heirloom strop. You can withdraw me. Thanks for doing this, though. Great idea!
Well.. if any newbie can apply I'm in.. lol :) If not, then thanks for contributing anyways, it's awesome! :)

Wow Lynn and Tony,
You guys are great!! A very generous gesture
Tony,
I do not want to participate in the drawing for the starter strops. I thought these are one of the higher end strops and that is why I asked ifI would be eligible. The strop Jim made for me is an excellent starter strop and I think your #4's will be better with somebody who doesn't already have a strop. I'm sure one day I'll be able to purchase one of your standard issues :)
I think if there are no 2 stropless newbies who entered the raffles, and Lynn wants to help newbies, the raffle should just be changed so that any newbie can enter. I think a prequalifications for being around for a week or two and still don't have a razor/strop can naturally restrict the raffle to only those who are really on a tight budget, but that's just an idea, don't know if it's useful.
But of course this all depends on what Lynn thinks is the best.
Cheers
