Hello!
I'm new to the forum and even to the world of straight razors. Heck, I didn't even know people still did this! After seeing an article on digg.com about DE shaving, and following the rabbit hole, I ended up here, and I gotta say....I'm gonna do it. I'm gonna get into straight razor shaving.
I don't fear nicks or cuts or bad shaves. I'll get past that. Ya know what I fear? My insatiable collector mentality. Financially, any hobby I've ever had that I collect stuff for tends to spiral out of control for a bit. I'll eventually reign it in, but not after I spend too much money on it. :w
I could definitely see myself doing that now. Heck, I'm already looking at spending $160 on my first razor! And you don't have to tell me "Oh, you don't have to spend that much on your first!" I know that. I want to. If I'm gonna do something, I'm not gonna do it half-way from the start.
Oh well. I'm really excited, and I haven't even bought my first razor yet! I can't wait to get into this hobby. Any pointers you guys might be able to offer a newbie on where to buy razors is welcome. I'm looking very favorably at vintagebladesllc.com or whatever it is (my work has it blocked for "Weapons", so I can't get there).
I'm also highly interested in those newbie kits I've heard of around here. Just waitin' for them to surface......
