Thanked: 0Stropping Frequency(different type)
Salute Everyone!
Newbie to the site and I must say I am getting quite and education here so far!
But now; I have a question about stropping frequency.
As in; I am lucky in the fact that I only have to shave about 3 times a week, but is it recommended to strop my razor everyday just the same?
I do anyway, just in case, but I was speaking with a friend who has the same question and thought I would make it my first post here.
Should I strop everyday or just the days I shave?
Or does it really matter?
I thank all in advance!
Damien

I only strop on the days I shave. I just
started stropping in between passes
while shaving, ie shave with the grain, strop
20X, shave across the grain, strop 20X and
shave against the grain. I then dry the
razor and strop 10X. I feel like there's a
difference with my shaves since doing
this.

Congratulations on your first post!
Since you have a light beard. You should be able to strop just before you shave. Stropping between passes might not be necessary. Some wire beards out there really trash a razor but I suspect you're not one of them. It will also depend on your razor. If it is a good razor with a good edge, no problem.

Thanked: 0Much Appreciated!
I have seen people with such string beards, you'd think they would shave with a chainsaw. Luckily, that's not me!
Presently, I use a Dovo Favorit.
It's the first "new" razor I have ever owned.
I usually look for older antique type razors, even though they are used, they are broken in quite nicely and seem to require little work to maintain if found in a decent condition.
My technique isn't too bad,but I need to work on my stropping and honing.
I thank you again!
Now I am off to search out more info from the site!

Related question - How frequently do you hone the razor? I am hoping to leave the honing for a little while.
