    Default My first Feather shave

I thought I'd describe my first Feather shave. I found a great deal here in Japan on a folding Feather Professional and snapped it up. I couldn't wait to get home and try it out. I popped in a blade and drenched my face a few times, lathered up, took a deep breath and started in. Wow. First pass with the grain seemed very smooth, almost like the blade was meeting no resistance at all. A few small pinpoint bleeders afterwards, but no harm done. I lathered up again and tried an across the grain pass. No real problems here except some rough spots on my jaw line. Finally, I tried an against the grain pass. The only problem I had was, again, the jaw line. My hair follows the jawline growing toward the ear and seems to resist the blade fiercely. I didn't force it, of course, and ended up with some rough areas along the jawline, but other than that I was quite smooth and happy. My face was bleeding in several places, but a cold water splash stopped the bleeding and I finished with a spritz of witch hazel and then after shave balm. All in all I was very happy with the shave. Much more comfy than my old Mach 3.

Any suggestions on the jawline are welcome. But I'm not really complaining.

John stretch the skin by pulling from above the jaw line, this will enable you to get this area smooth more easily.
