    Default Newbie Questions

First I壇 like to introduce myself considering that this is my first post. My name is Mike and I知 24 years old. I知 a college student at the University of Kentucky. I shaved with a straight razor for the first time about two weeks ago and I absolutely fell in love with it. I was looking on classicshaving.com and I came across a nice razor set that I知 considering purchasing (the picture of the set is below). Would you guys recommend this kit? In addition, if I buy this kit would I also need to buy paste for my strop? If so, what paste would you recommend? Lastly, what hone would you recommend that I buy? Any information that you can provide will be greatly appreciated.

    Welcome to SRP!

This is a great way to start out! I wish I could've started with such a nice kit.

I think most of the guys will tell you not to worry about the paste for now. Just concentrate of learning the technique of stropping your razor properly (if you don't already have this down). AND, you'll find Lynn's DVD extremely helpful.

BTW, that image strikes me kind of funny. "Strop not to scale". What about the rest of the items?

    Welcome to SRP.

You picked out a fine kit. As cwrighta70 stated the DVD is a great help. I would recommend that you take advantage of the hone service. Starting out with a correctly honed razor will ensure your first attempts will be more satisfying.
Again, welcome to SRP. There is always somebody on here willing answer questions.

Once you have the kit and watch the DVD all the other questions in your post will be answered
