After shaving I wipe the blade under the faucet with my thumb and forefinger to get rid of the lather scum, then turn on only the hot water for a final blade rinse and to get the blade as hot as possible. I then wipe it on a towel, strop it on the towel a couple of times, fold it up so the blade doesn't quite contact the scales, and put it on a shelf in my bathroom for it to come up again in the rotation. For long term storage, oil is good. Maybe something like Tuf-Glide may be better as it dries and won't soak into semi porous scales such as bone, ivory, wood, or horn.
