Those machine-sharpened blades are unforgiving.
You've got balls, I give you that. Just don't try shaving them with that razor please.

Ohh man!!!
Now this noob (me) is a bit scared. lol.
I think you just scared me out of straight shaving. Heck, you might have scared Lynn out of straights! :P
Looks like you got pretty close, though. Especially without having read the stuff here first, good job for the first go.
Yikes!
I just showed my wife this post and those pictures, and her response was a loud "Oh Man! Is he going to stay with it?"
I hope that doesn't scare you away from straights. Just remember to go slow and take it easy. You should only nic yourself when starting not slice your face up. Use a properly honed razor, because as my shop teacher used to say; "A sharp tool is a safe tool."
Good luck to ya, and OUCH.
Pretty good cut there...I still occasionally nick myself with my Feather and Sanguine disposables, though never quite as seriously.
Just keep your mind on what you're doing and withdraw if the blade suddenly stops.
The shavettes and Feather I suspect are slightly more demanding of technique, so don't be too worried if there's a bit more of a learning curve.
I would let that heal before going back at it....
holy snap dude! did you sneeze or something!? i've cut myself but wow. if the blade was sharp enough you probably didn't even feel it. i just had a 2 inch red line on my face. never even knew if untill i looked up from wiping off the blade!
