Gentlemen, this site is a wealth of information. The search engine has led me to answers to almost all my questions. And Lynn’s DVD is a godsend. I am a gen-u-wine newbie, so take this with as many grains of NaCl2 as you deem appropriate. There have been many aspersions cast right and left around here concerning cartridges. It has been my experience that, for me, they give a very close and very comfortable shave. Not to mention they are quick and easy. Oops wait a minute, that’s a bad thing here.

Quite a few years ago the desire arose in me to try my hand with a str8. My memory is not shave ready sharp, but I do recall that it was too much trouble and I soon relinquished it to the closet. I was perfectly happy with what I was doing.

Now, of course, I am older and wiser and the bug has bitten badly. And yes, quick and easy is a bad thing. My skill level would not invite any comparisons to any of yours, but I am able to guide it around all the required areas and still have all of my face remain after I am finished. I have now discovered that my face is so much smoother. At least, I am convinced it is. I didn’t actually run my hand across my face every ten minutes before. Another real advantage is acquiring a skill and using it. I’m in the acquiring sector, of course, but I am right on schedule to have a perfect shave on my 90th birthday. There’s also the enjoyment of bringing a butter knife blade through all the steps it takes for it to meet the first whisker. (Still working on that.) But it appears that the sweetest gratification of all is evidenced by the fact that none of you own only one razor. It seems the phrase ‘enough razors’, if used at all, is always in reference to the future.
