    Default Strop Paste

    Hi All,
How often and how much yellow paste should be applied to your strop?

If you have yellow paste you only use it when the strop is getting dry and no longer giving any draw or pull on the razor. You should only have a small amount of draw anyways and rubbing your hands on the strop every day can be all you need to keep it conditioned. If you need it though then spread it between your hands and then rub it on the face of the strop evenly. Less is more here. I personally use neats foot oil instead of yellow paste.

I only use a strop paste under 2 conditions:
    1) When repairing the strop -- If I nick it, I sand out the nick, clean the strop with a leather/tack cleaner, coat the sanded area, let it sit for an hour and finish by coating the whole strop surface. This ends up giving it a nice uniform finish.
    2) As a medium for the chromium oxide powder.
Other than that, it's unnecessary. Just running your palm over the surface to warm it up an increase the draw before every stropping will condition it more than enough.
