I bought my C-Mon at an antiques store after buying a brush and soap in an old west town in Colombia, Ca. I picked up an old hone and a new strop and proceeded to have a less than shave ready razor. I shaved a few times with not so great results.
After this my wife had to quit working and the extra money for having it honed couldn't be justified.
So I had an old DE razor and started using it. I'm getting way better shaves with it than ever before.
But I wanted to use that straight. So read up everything I could find here. Realized I over honed my straight and I did it the right way. Now it's not as sharp as I know it should be. But it'll take the tops of my arm hairs off nicely.
So it sat while I used my DE.
This morning I took it out again. Stropped it and gave myself a really good shave. Not BBS at all. But I think it's sharp enough now to work on my technique. My cheeks are BBS but the neck wasn't.
So this long post is to thank all of you who have contributed your wisdom experience in this ritual here. You've helped immensely.

And a question. The whiskers just under my jawline grows down and sideways toward my ears. The DE can get them because the head is so small. But the length of the straight prevents an XTG pass. Any advice on how to trim those hairs?

Thanks again.
