Now that is a great idea! Thanks. I remember secretly using my dads DE razor when I was a teenager and decided it was time to begin shaving. I think it was a Gillette.
I am now on a quest for a DE razor. Any suggestions and info on brands, types, where to look, would be greatly appriciated. A DE razor would be an excellent substitute when I don't have time to use the straight.

The guys at Badger and Blade are pretty serious about their DE's you can check their B/S/T and get a pretty good idea. My dad uses a Gillete red tip, seems to me that they're just about all the same, but on the other hand Dad thinks that all straights are the same.......so potato/avacado

I bought a new Merkur Progress adjustable, and was very disappointed in it for various reasons. To me, it's still hard to beat the vintage Gillette adjustables for comfy shaves. I use a long handled black slim adjustable which I bought new back in the '80's with a Derby blade.
The badgerandblade.com suggestion is very good, too. There's alot of very knowledgeable and helpful guys over there.
Surprisingly, the prices on vintage Gillette DE adjustables really aren't that bad.
