I'm So Proud!
Well gents, I have here three straight razors--I HOPE the last three I will be buying for some time. At least until I learn to hone them properly myself.
First is a Vintage Kropp 5/8 Hollow Ground--good Sheffield Steel, that, I got it shave-ready off a member of B&B. It needs rescaling eventually, but it seems like a good blade.
Then, the white scaled Double Arrow. $13.50 shipped to Japan, not bad at all--and it is close to shave ready, I think. It feels "sticky" on the TPT and TNT, but what do I know...it did shave my arm hairs ok, though it failed the HHT. It is definitely more shave ready than my 3rd razor, the Tosuke up there.
The shop was requested to hone it, and they said they would, but it's not near shave ready. Oh well. It'll be my pet project...
Anyway, here's my Steel Triad!

Getting the technique down on the two styles should keep you busy for a while, if nothing else! Good luck. I'm starting to hanker after a japanese razor.

Congrats ! BTW, always do the TPT first, if the edge passes the TPT don't do the
TNT. That is for checking when setting the bevel. If the edge is sharp it doesn't do it any good. The TPT is fine for that. Shaving is of course the ultimate test. As far as the HHT it is nice if it will pass that but IME not necessary for a decent shave.
Be careful how you treat people on your way up, you may meet them again on your way back down.

Now here is something that I love to say about these sorts of things. "You need not buy anything more." Love the way that sounds, the way it sort of rolls of the toung.
