I'd call him up and ask him what, exactly, that entails, step-by-step. And if he gives you attitude, go somewhere else next time (like one of the fine folks on this board.)

Try stropping it a lot. Unfortunately, I don't think it bodes well that the edge doesn't even catch your hair. I hate to say it, but there are a lot of "knife guys" out there that use straights, but treat them like their knives. It's simply a different animal. It was a simple polishing wheel. Like the ones you see on a bench grinder. Left the rubbery melted residue on the top of the blade.

That's an interesting method! Now we've established it doesn't work for razors at least you can get something done about it. I'd imagine it'll need re-honing after that kind of abuse. I'd contact the nearest reputable honemiester you can find on here.
na he is a knife guy, and a good one too. No need to be hating on him. Especially since he didn't charge me for anything. And gave me a bunch of stuff to take care of the blade as far as rust protection.

That's a nice attitude. No harm done in the long run, i hope, so what does it matter. Hope you get it to a shave ready standard very soon, by which time the strop will have arrived. Which one did you go for?
