    That's an interesting method! Now we've established it doesn't work for razors at least you can get something done about it. I'd imagine it'll need re-honing after that kind of abuse. I'd contact the nearest reputable honemiester you can find on here.

    na he is a knife guy, and a good one too. No need to be hating on him. Especially since he didn't charge me for anything. And gave me a bunch of stuff to take care of the blade as far as rust protection.
    Although you are probably right this isn't his area of expertise.

    That's a nice attitude. No harm done in the long run, i hope, so what does it matter. Hope you get it to a shave ready standard very soon, by which time the strop will have arrived. Which one did you go for?

    The IL 827 from the knife center. Should be good to start out with. Plus I'm paying for a new tranny in my wife's mazda. So I didn't have a lot of $$ to throw around.

    I bought that exact strop about six months ago, its been great and great value too!
