Thumbs up My very first shave...

I just finished my very first str8 shave. Oh My God! I am hooked! I've been reading and watching all over this site for the past few weeks. I had to wait for my merchandise to arrive, which gave me ample time to study up on things, and practice with a strop. My face has never been as smooth after a shave as it is right now! I had purchased a GEBR KORTE razor from OLD SCHOOL, which he refurbished and honed, and it was like I didn't even have any facial hair it was so sharp!

I used a hot towel I had warmed in the micro-wave while I was in the shower. I put that on my face for a few minutes then used some pre shave oil and the towel again. I then made up my lather and away I went! I think the main thing is to TAKE YOUR TIME, ecspecially on your first shave. All you other newbies out there, don't rush. By taking my time, I really enjoyed shaving, which is something I never thought I would be saying my entire life!

Thanks for all the great tips evryone offers each day! Your advice is truly a God send for the new shaver! Ray

Hey, well done. It sounds like it's going to get expensive for you if you're hooked already!

Welcome rrp1501 and congratulations on an enjoyable first straight razor shave. It may seem like you have reached shave heaven but it is probably only 7th heaven. Things will only get better from here by improving and enhancing your prep, shave technique, stropping, honing, soaps, aftershave and of course buying more and more razors, hones, strops, soaps, aftershaves and any other shave items you may fancy. Hope you enjoy your RAD, HAD, SAD and other ads as much as you enjoyed your first straight shave!
