Straight razors from U$ 20,00 to 200,00 what to start with?

Hello forum members, this is my first post so I'm sorry if this question has been too frequent or if I have posted on the wrong place, pardon for my bad english as well.

My question is: At what price point do we start to get a good straight razor, I have no need a luxurious state of art model, but I don't want do get the wrong first impression by shaving with a poor quality straight razor?

also a $25 vintage razor can shave as good as a new$300 dovo. one last thing stay away from ebay razors until you get some experience in what to look for there are a lot of misleading ads out there

What country are you in ? We could better direct you to a good source for finding a pre honed shave ready razor if we know where you are.

You can buy new and get a good blade for $60-$200. You can get a good used blade for half the cost of the new. The folks on this board are truly helpful and will not steer you wrong. I would recommend getting your first blade from the classifieds.

If you already have some experience honing or have access to somebody that does I have been hearing about the Double Arrow razors. I picked up a couple at $9.50 each to give away to friends that are interested in starting. The website is Famous Double Arrow straight razor. I won't comment on the quality of shave because I haven't used them but they do sharpen up well.

If I knew the answer to that question I'd have the biggest, best and cheapest razor collection in the world. The reality is you can get a custom razor for a grand that shaves poorly and a $40 Eboy special that shaves like a million bucks.

The best bet for you is buy from one of the guys here and don't spend for than about $40-50 for your first straight.
