    Default All Excited

I'm all excited here. I have been straight shaving for a month, average of three time per week due to time constraints, and for the first time I only got two minor cuts.

Am envious of all you first timers on here who report no cuts the very first time...

congrats on a good shave just remember to take your time most of the time cuts are from not paying attention to your blade angle and getting in a rush

You're not alone. I've shaved for years with a DE razor. Nicked a mole that I never have since I was in my twenties ( a very long time ago) . Even allowing a week or so to heal now I can't seem to shave it without nicking it, even with my DE. Ho Hum, I'm sure with care and practice it'll come good eventually. I hope.

Congrats!! 2 nicks isn't bad at all! On my first few shaves I had a LOT more than that, so by my standards (when I first started), I'd say you're off to a great start. Many more enjoyable shaves to come, and before long you'll be getting ZERO cuts per shave!

Thanks all, for the positive and encouraging feedback. I can readily see as jszabo mentioned that most problems are from blade angle and being in a hurry. That has been my experience.

On an aside, last Friday I shaved with my Quattro IV and opened a previous cut on my chin from the straight and the thing didn't stop bleeding for an hour despite liberal use of alum and styptic. (I am on blood thinners.) Yesterday that cut only opend a tiny bit and one pass of the alum block stopped it. So nicking problems are not limited to straights.

    Hi Droche,

Congratulations on your almost nickfree shave...

After two months I only cut myself if I'm in a hurry.. I think that should be called a shortcut then...

    Have fun...

    Maarten
