My first buy
-
That's a sweet looking razor. Congrats! Might want to put a new knot in that brush though, handle looks cool, or just get yourself a more modern one.
-
True--looks a bit loose doesn't it. I'll do that when it gets here. Thanks for the advice:-)
-
I'd say you did quite well. I've heard great things about those FWE's.
-
Excellent purchase. With another $25 -30, you should have it shave ready, if it is not already. Add a strop, pretty good deal.
Al raz.
-
looks good :D id say you got a real good deal the stand and razor both look good
-
Thanks---that's what I needed to hear:-)
-
Great looking set. One question, how does one go about getting a new knot for the brush?
Thanks
-
I have an Engels exactly like that one. It's one of my best shavers.
-
search badger hair knots... i figure just dig out the old one and glue another in with marine glue. they have'm on ebay and you can googl it. that is a nice razor and setup...
-
Thanks Mike that's great to hear------ I can't wait to get it and go for a test drive:-)
I bet Gorilla glue would work well also
-
The razor is top notch. A well respected name here on SRP.
The soap has to go, get some better stuff. Your face will say thank you.
Ya, be sure to get a strop and a better brush.
You did good,:)
-
FWE is right up there with Dubl Duck IMHO. The one you picked up looks very nice and will undoubtedly make a great shaver.
-
Thanks Randy I'll do just that.
That's great to know. I had no idea it was right up there with Double Duck in quality. The fellow who sells them test them as I mentioned before then strops them one last time before shipping so it should be good to go when I get it.
-
No, it will not be good to go. You must strop for 30-50 roundtrip laps on a plain leather hanging strop just before each shave. It makes an enormous difference. I am not joking about this. Hopefully, others will chime in on this point.
-
No honing is what I meant. I found out last night how much difference a strop makes. I'll for sure do that before every shave.
-
That is a real beauty!
I will trade it for a razor with maintenance-free plastic scales, any day:rofl2:
-
-
Yeah, you did fine. That was me you beat out in the last 30 seconds. Computer froze up or I would've had you. Good buy, I think. Use it in good health.
-
ooops----Thank you. That's my first razor. Darn PC's are always doing that. I changed to a Mac several years ago and never looked back because they work great and never lockup. My second job was as a computer science teacher and I taught on PC's but used Macs---irony:-)
-
I was a prosecutor for thirty years, only used computers as a necessary evil. But, shortly after our duel, I got hold of a nice Boker Red Injun and an original box in another contest (E-Bay can be kind of a video game,) so I'm one up on my collection, and some other guy is still looking for the ideal shaver. See ya around the ether.
-
Wow you spent a long time on the good guys side! That's a point for you I'll tell ya. I could never see myself defending some of the folks I've arrested.
I'm glad you got another great razor. Of course I'm just starting so that was my first except for my grandfathers old razor. I never thought about it but ebay can be like a video game. Like the razor we were talking about last night that went for $277. Two people just decided they would not be beat so up it went--LOL.
I'll be talking to you----
Phil
