    Default My first shave.

I just recieved my first razor, a solingen straight razor. It was not shave ready but I just couldnt wait to try the thing that I had read about and researched for so long. It did shave but not the greatest. I am waiting on my tony tri-strop and set of hones. I have got the fever. No cuts or knicks reported. The shave was WTG only.

A heart welcome to SRP OT!

Where did you purchase your razor?

If it was not shave ready, I highly recommend you send it out right now to one of our honemeisters. That person will put the correct edge on it so you can begin your shaving experiences with a good edge. Otherwise you will be fighting 2 unknowns. The first being technique, which you will learn over time. And the second is putting the correct edge on your razor. Buy an inexpensive razor at an antique shop/fair or ebay (not a Zeepk) and use that razor to build your honing skills. Your razor that will be professionally honed will become your standard for the edge you put on you other razor(s).
