That's a great birthday present! Look here in the classifieds.
Member Services - Straight Razor Place Classifieds
Any one of them should be good.
Unless you can get it to someone with experience with straights, you'll probably just have to assume that it needs honing.Last edited by ben.mid; 04-07-2009 at 01:24 PM.

Welcome to SRP! That is a heckuva nice razor. If you buy the other don't be in a hurry to sell it. If you are going to get into straight razor shaving it is advisable to have a back up razor.
Here is the SRP Wiki with scads of great info to point you in the right direction and here are tutorial videos on various aspects of shaving, honing and preperation.Be careful how you treat people on your way up, you may meet them again on your way back down.

Welcome.
From what I hear they shave great.
Spend the $15 or what ever it is and get it honed.
Keep it. Keep it.

Happy Birthday and welcome to SRP,
Great razor! Get that razor to a honemeister (see classifieds). Before I found SRP, I tried to shave with a str8 for 3 years, off and on (my face could only handle so much abuse). The str8 was the sharpest blade I'd ever seen, but it wasn't shave ready. Once I found SRP (last Thanksgiving), I got a shaveready str8 and I've been happily shaving with str8s ever since. Get it honed by a pro and enjoy!

Congratulations on your bday and on your gift.
You're extremely lucky to have this razor. Now all you need is to get it properly honed to enjoy the razor to the max.
I have 6 Fillies and they are the best razors I have. I have one NOS just like that and it's one of my greatest shavers - smooth and sharp.
Keep it and enjoy it - these are getting rarer to get.
