    Default First Shave- Butter beard?

So I have a story of my first ever shave with a straight, and y'all are going to shoot me for it.

I got an ebay razor- that I could not find any details on- for 10 bucks. It's a Friedrich Baurmann and Sons 96, from Solingen (Blade stamp- Friedr. Baurmann & Sohne, Solingen, 96). Just got it. Definately not shave ready, scales aren't too good, some tarnishing. I'm sending it off to be rescaled and honed, but was eager to try it, so I metal polished it, stropped about 20 laps on newspaper, lathered up and went for it. Slowly- my whole face took 15 mins. And I only nicked myself once. But my beard was gone. Now everything I did was against all advice, but it was one of the cleanest shaves I've ever had, with very little razor burn. Either I hit a miracle razor, or my beard is made of butter. I dunno. So now put me in front of the firing squad for all my blatant vagrancies- I just thought the world should hear of this miracle. Too often I hear horror stories about terrible straight razor shaves and nicks and cuts and I'm glad thats not how it went with me.

Congrats on your first straight razor shave.

After you get that baby honed by a profesional it will even shave better my friend.

actually there's nothing wrong with what you did. you just could've had a lot worse results.
there's always the tails of the distribution, people win the lottery all the time as well, but i personally haven't been spending money on tickets

    have fun!

I came out of the gate running too and it continued to improve in the months that followed. Some of us get lucky.

And me, I just went for it.

Good luck, I bet you can't wait for your razor to be turned around coming home ready.
