Where did you get your razor? Is it shave ready?
You'd be surpised what vintage razors you can get for the price of a new one. I have some superlative blades (Dovo, Jowika, Wester Bro's, and Geo Wostenholm IXL) that, to me, are far superior to some of the new ones. And I paid less for them than any quality new blade on the market.
+1 on not re-scaling!

Thanked: 52Like i said i knew i would get the go vintage responses but like I also said it is just my personal preference that I never typically buy anything used.
But I do agree about the story behind the razor...
But I feel when I pass down a razor to my son someday...hopefully I have one ..haha..I can give him a razor that has a family story...
PS I got the blade from Vintage blades...so it will be honed by lynn...its in the mail now...
PSS I will definately be using the practice strop for a good while...dont want to ruin a good TM right off...
Thanks guys...

Hey congrats and good luck. Enjoy your new tools.
Be careful how you treat people on your way up, you may meet them again on your way back down.

Congratulations on your new equipment.. coming from a shavette makes shaving with a non disposable straight a piece of cake.. you will probably get the feeling the razor is not as sharp as the shavette (at least I did) but not to worry if you just keep the angle and pressure in mind it will shave great.
To practice stropping you could use your shavette to get the hang of it.. just remove the blade and strop all day if you like..

Hey, don't worry about buying new. You can make your next razor a vintage. It's not like you're only going to buy one razor!
