    Welcome to SRP ! If I was new to it I would stick with a strop and a couple of shave ready razors before I started worrying about honing. Once you are sure that you are going to stick with it all of the previous posters had good advice.
    Be careful how you treat people on your way up, you may meet them again on your way back down.
