    Default sharpening problems

i just bought a SWEENEY TODD replica and it was as sharp as a walmart pocket KNIFE i have a hone but i used it for about 3-4 hours and it didnt sharpen it at all it was just to blunt of a blade. is there any way i can get this sharp enough to use on my hone? like if a hardware store can use a machine to grind an edge onto it.

Welcome to SRP. I'm not sure if those blades are meant for shaving. What you don't want to do is let someone sharpen it on a machine. There are hone meisters that offer their services in the classifieds (see above left) who know how to hone a razor to shave readiness. PM one of them and get their opinion.

It is also likely that your hone is not razor appropriate. Hones made for pocket knives or kitchen knives are only good for setting a bevel on a razor at best. At worst, you're just grinding away metal uselessly.

plus unfortunately those movie replica blades are probably just rebranded zeepk blades, and will do everything they can to avoid taking an edge.

I'm sorry, those are not for shaving.

Hi, zeepk's are advertised as shaving razors & col. conk hones as razor hones, but many would disagree.
AFAIK, on the whole chinese made blades are pretty useless. The exception being the unbranded Double Arrows.
Sweeney Todd razors were discussed here. http://straightrazorpalace.com/razor...odd-razor.html
Spanx seems to have had some luck getting his shave ready, but doesn't sound like he was blown away. Maybe he'll chip in with an update, or you could p.m. him? Also, your's may be different steel.
Either way, it'll be a challenge to shave with!
