    Hi All,

I’ve been wet shaving for ~ 10-12 years, albeit with a Gillette Sensor. Then, about a month ago I joined up across the street at TSD and started with a DE SR. Well, last week while walking through an antique store, I came across the str8 below. It was fairly clean already, and at only $7, I couldn’t pass it up. I cleaned it up some for the photo, may do a little more to it if I can find the proper polishing compound. I figure I’ll continue to work on my DE technique, and slowly get myself ready to try the str8. I’ll continue to lurk and start to ask questions here, and slowly acquire what I need ( which I think at this point is just getting the razor professionally honed and picking up a decent strop). I’ve seen this site recommended several times, and look forward to an education and participating where I can.

Hi Moe, welcome to SRP ! That looks like a heck of a deal for seven bucks, ya did good. Check out the SRP Wiki here and the video section here. For easing into straight razor shaving I would suggest using the method posted by SRP founder Lynn Abrams here. Read my sig below to avoid nicks and cuts.
Be careful how you treat people on your way up, you may meet them again on your way back down.

I was doing you a great disservice, expecting to see some ratty old razor! But wow, that's a hell of a deal. It looks brand new.

Good luck, Welcome to the SRP.

    Moe,
You scored a MUCH nicer razor than my first one, which was also found at an antique store. Don't make the mistake I did of trying to shave with it, until it is expertly honed! There are great resources and people at SRP-welcome!
