Thank you!

I have been lurking for a couple of weeks reading all the newbie sections and trying to learn as much as possible. The amount of information on the site is overwhelming. Trust me thats not a bad thing, I mean come on it your face right!

I decided to try the shave for the first time on Friday. The work required with the razor to be ready for the shave was a bit much to worry about. So I went out to the local Barber supply shop and bought a Shavette. A cheap one, a really cheap one. Got some blades ( 50 cents per blade btw) some shaving cream a brush etc.

I prepared to shave (again thank you for the forum) and did the first pass. Smooth. I instantly was hooked. I did both sideburns and evething went well. Then I went for the upper lip against the SRP advice and nicked myself. I had been dreading this moment since the idea of a Straight razor shave had entered my mind.

It was less then a quarter inch but it didn't hurt. The pencil DID but the cut didn't. I lost all sense of apprehension and since friday I have shaved twice more.

True the cheap shavette and cheap blades I am sure suck. But compared to the Mach 5 I am already getting a less irritating shave. I mean the shave feels smmmooooooth and I know with better equipment and more practice the nicks will be less often and the shave last longer.

I want to thank everyone here I am truely indebted to you all.

Now the last challenge I have to find a Straight razor and equipment nessary to maintain it. So expect a few more posts for advice. LOL

Cheers and thanks again
