Hey guys, I'm about to enter the world of cut throat shaving and need some advice about the two blades I'm considering to buy. They're both 6/8'' Dovo's but one is 1/2 hollow ground and the other is full. Any other suggestions are appreciated, I'm planning to buy a SR set to start off.
- 1/2 hollow:Vintage*Blades*LLC*::*Dovo...
- Full:Vintage Blades, Dovo
Any of these razors should fit the bill. I personally like the 1/2 ground better but as I say, this is a matter of personal preference. Only make sure that they the whatever you buy is in shave ready condition. I think the link at the bottom for a 5/8 though but probably also available in 6/8. Happy shaving.

I would recommend the full hollow. More feedback for a noobie.
+1 Full hollow is a good first blade then get the 1/2 for you second :tuQuote:

i'd go with the full hollow - it's a stiff full hollow anyways
many people though find stiffer edges to make the learning curve shallower, but more feedback helps developing good technique.

Great advice from some very knowledgeable folks, one question, do you have a strop? If not, you may look into purchasing one of those as well as you will need it after your first shave.

Very nice. I believe you will be very happy with the product and service at SRD. Just a thought, you might look at finding a "used" strop as when starting out most folks, including myself, nick the strop while learning..I still do:rant: Your SRD strop is top notch. You can find some on the classifieds for a very fair price. Again, just a suggestion.

I've looked into getting a second strop to practice with first, and found this one that looks great for 20 bucks.
That will work just fine I imagine.
