Chosing a razor.
Hey guys, I'm about to enter the world of cut throat shaving and need some advice about the two blades I'm considering to buy. They're both 6/8'' Dovo's but one is 1/2 hollow ground and the other is full. Any other suggestions are appreciated, I'm planning to buy a SR set to start off.

- Full:Vintage Blades, Dovo

Any of these razors should fit the bill. I personally like the 1/2 ground better but as I say, this is a matter of personal preference. Only make sure that they the whatever you buy is in shave ready condition. I think the link at the bottom for a 5/8 though but probably also available in 6/8. Happy shaving.
Al raz.

Staying out, letting more knowledgeable folks answer the questions.

My vote also. I'm also partial to 6/8 and round points, as both of these are.
Your first shaves should concentrate on technique, and getting a comfortable DFS by going mostly WTG first, then a little XTG; and the full hollow somehow seems to make this easier. After MUCH experience, you may want to get BBS, which will often require ATG in some areas. The 1/2 or 1/4 hollow razor will be stiffer, and easier to go ATG without jumping. It's usually easier to control a stiffer razor around the nose and upper lip corners, especially when going ATG.

welcome to srp
i'd go with the full hollow - it's a stiff full hollow anyways
many people though find stiffer edges to make the learning curve shallower, but more feedback helps developing good technique.
either one would work fine.

Great advice from some very knowledgeable folks, one question, do you have a strop? If not, you may look into purchasing one of those as well as you will need it after your first shave.
Enjoy,

Very nice. I believe you will be very happy with the product and service at SRD. Just a thought, you might look at finding a "used" strop as when starting out most folks, including myself, nick the strop while learning..I still do Your SRD strop is top notch. You can find some on the classifieds for a very fair price. Again, just a suggestion.
Enjoy
