    Default Introduction

    Hi Guys,
I'm new to the website, I'm impressed!
I've been straight razor shaving for 47yrs. Use
D.R.Harris soap, almond. Own a dog who thinks
he owns me. Live in Ohio. Any feed back on Van
Der Hagen deluxe soap would be appreciated. It
caused my face to hive up.

    Keep on keeping on

Welcome aboard! I've been at it for a whopping 3 months, and I've learned a ton from the folks here.

I have 3 dogs-- 2 ex racing greyhounds, and a corgi...

Please post pictures of your razors...

Welcome. It's always good to see more experience coming in.

As far as the VDH, there's not a lot I can say because I've never used their stuff. I can tell you that I've seen a lot of folks around here say good things, but at the end of the day, if it makes you break out, it's time to bin it.

You might try Colleen's soaps from The Gentlemen's Quarter - Shaving, Bath and Body, Skincare, Home Fragrance, Brushes, Creams, Soaps

I haven't wanted to use anything else since I first tried them, and they're some of the most popular soaps around here.

    welcome to srp

why switch to vdh? i thought harris is very good, although i haven't been experimenting with the english stuff.
i have a puch of vdh and it's still in the box, but it's a mass product and should not be causing any reactions.
i do like colleen's soaps a lot, give them a try.

    Welcome to SRP!

Given that a puck of soap will last several months, I would always go for the best quality available.

    Regards,
    Robin

I had a similar reaction to Vergulde Hand soap. I guess I'm allergic to one of the ingredients. I haven't found out what ingredient, but I intend to find out.
