Thanks everyone for the warm welcome and the encouragement. I look forward to things improving as time progresses. It's fun to acquire these new skills. From what I have seen this is a very inviting and helpful community, and I look forward to being a part of it.
I should also thank hi_bud_gl for the new Bengall. It has been excellent! I don't envision getting rid of my DEs any time soon, just maybe thinning the lot to the ones I really enjoy. You know, to make more room for more straights :) I have only tried American and Sheffield steel so far. I mean there's still Solingen to try, and Swedish, and Japanese, and..... I'm going to need a higher paying job.

good to hear
so it took a month?
was there something that just happened, or was it gradual?
I'm not so sure on back up DEs and such though.
I was test shaving a pile of DEs tonight to send the most aggressive to someone as a present and I felt REALLY strange using a DE
then it occurred to me that I haven't used one in a couple of years
or anything other than a straight

I know what you mean. I've been going about a month, and now use a straight alone. I had to pop home for a week this week, and not wanting to risk my blades, took my old Mach 3 up with me. Man, I can't believe I thought that was a close shave! I have feelable stubble as little as 12 hours after shaving, whereas a straight shave lasts me over a day before stubble begins to be noticable, and even then nowhere near this extent.
Keep up the shaving, once you experience a great BBS shave you won't go back!
