Yet another newbie
Hi all,
after shaving with DE razors for the last 5 years, I finally had the guts to shave with a SR last weekend. My first SR is a probably mid-19th century French frameback that happens to shave very nicely and quietly.
I have just bought an old stock Japanese-made Western-style hollow-ground straight to add some variety to the shaving experience... once I'm done cleaning it, of course.

I've been lurking for about a week before joining in, soaking information... I think I'll fit right in :w

A good link that might help you get started with your restore, if you haven't seen it:

Welcome to SRP. :) Hope the restore goes well. We want to see pics when it's done. :)

I still have a few weeks before starting the restore, the blade is in Japan and will come to Germany through relatives... maybe I should get an old German razor to practice :w
