Is using the same straight razor everyday a no-no?
Ok, so I've heard you should give your razor a break....do I need two razors?

lol...in reality, you only need one, if you hone it yourself. Most here have at least two so one can be off to be honed while the use the other.
(un)fortunately, lots of us accumulate razors and use whichever one we're in the mood for.
But you need only one

Thanked: 267If you are new at this, then one razor is an advantage because changing razors can change things a lot in your shave quality till you learn the new razors' feel. I still only use 2 razors after about 2 years. I like the way that they shave and my RAD is in check, really.......no really!

It is nice to have 2 or three - that way, one is hopefully always sharp and ready to go. there are discussions on the board about letting the metal rest back to it's original form after the stropping has drawn the edge out.
not sure what to believe but getting new razors is one hell of a ride

More than the back-up advantage of having more than one razor, I was really wondering about what 44wiskas mentioned, "letting the metal rest back to its original form." It sounds a bit far fetched to me, but hey, any excuse to buy another razor....
So what's RAD?

Rad = Razor Aquisition Disorder
I have it a little. Have three razors and only two months in. Mind you two need work and will be sent out soon.

That advice is a good way to start an interesting debate. Many of us strop before and after every shave, and there isn't any evidence that razor resting has been proven valid (from all of my reading). Personally, I don't let my wife know this because it helps me build my collection under the guise of protecting my investment
FWIW, I strop before and after every shave, and my edges are very stable and perform very well.
