Looking for personalized advice! First Timer

Hello!! My name is Grant, I live in Billings,Montana. I have been looking at getting into a straight razor for a long time, thus I have done a lot of research. I have to admit that there is a lot of opposing information out there, I am looking for some of the experienced people on this site to hopefully be able to point me in the right direction.
So - I am looking for my first straight razor. I hope to keep then entire cost of everything I will need under 100 dollars. I have dark thick hair on my face which continually gets ingrown hairs from my mach three.
What type of razor would you buy in my position. I would enjoy getting a strop and learning how to properly hone the razor after I dull from using it for a while =)
I would prefer to buy a razor that has been honed by someone who knows what they are doing.
There are so many razors out there I have to admit I am overwhelmed.
I appreciate any help that anyone is able to give me advice on what razor to buy, and possibly a specific one that is available, and I am sorry if this has been directly answered already, I did not see it anywhere in here..

Welcome to SRP. Here is a link for Ruprazor. He has beginner's strops for around $20.00 and reasonably priced razors to where you could probably get started for under $100.00. :gl:

Welcome to SRP! Jimmy's advice is good. There are a lot of options out there so you will probably get a lot of advice here that may point you in many different directions. Starting out ~ $100 is a good way to go to see if you like what you are getting into. Be aware that many of us here have developed an acquisition disorder and it is highly contagious.

When (not if) you realize that this is the way to go you may be spending money left and right, to try the next type of item. What I'm getting at here is that you should get a good setup in your budget but not loose sleep over your selection. With your budget Jimmy's suggestion is a good one so just do it and get it over with. When you have more money to play with you can spend more time hunting for the item of your dreams.

Be sure to purchase your razor "SHAVE READY".

Did the kit include proper shaving soap/cream, too? You should consider starting with proper lather.

I am not sure about "proper" I really don't know what that is, how does this look though??

Ok. so you got soap and other knickknacks. GOod. Haven't tried the soap myself (can't get it here), but I guess it should be ok to use.
